It seems the norm is wood to carpet.
Do we have the wood floor on the very top stair on the landing which will be be higher than the rest of the stairs o.
At the top of the stairs nose molding will cover the seam similarly if the vinyl flooring ends at the stair edge.
2 bevel cut the back edge of the stair tread to minimize the height difference.
